Welcome to my site. I hope you find it useful and interesting. I suppose the best way to describe the contents are primitive  hunter gatherer meets modern day preparedness. Like many today, I want to teach my son the appeal of not needing the material world and instead placing value in self confidence and the freedom that comes from self reliance. I suppose its like the saying, you will never get rich being a teacher, but no one lives a richer life.
Learning things like starting a fire from scratch and finding natural food sources do just that. By the amount of survival and Alaska based TV shows on these days, it seems many of us are seeking that feeling that we had for millions of years as tribal hunter gatherers and the closeness to the earth and each other that has been lost. Those evolutionary traits didn’t just disapear in 75 years. Don’t get me wrong, I love the modern world for so many countless reasons but it is all so far out of balance no matter how dazzled I am by it all. I am hoping that the next generations can get us back on track and problems under control with use of the computer and social media.  It all seems to make very powerful changes happen fast these days, but we will just have to see.
Being able to live well and improvise the important things in life are often possible by learning understanding basic ancient skills along with the many uses for common supplies around us everyday. By nature, I love this way of thinking and crave this kind of useful knowledge. Due to this I have always taken a lot of notes on things I wish to know well. So this site is a place to bring it all together in one place. Sharing and organizing my years of ebooks for download, notes, articles, videos, amazing and funny things is the idea at the root of this site

CaptureWiz2000652This site is dedicated to my precious son to help him grow and learn self confidence/reliance through understanding the basics and important things about life in this quickly growing world of tech around him… then it will be his own journey to find what makes him happy. But always remember that happiness is not guaranteed, usually only the pursuit of it. Without lows there can be no highs, without mistakes you can’t learn and grow,  so just keep it real and you will be fine :)
MISSION:
1. Have a good time learning skills, ideas and facts that fascinate me.
2. View videos then select, organize and share the only the best content
3. Publish my notes, lists and articles, and treasures I find online
4. Combine all of my notes and lists into easy to read, printable pages
5. Organize the best videos/pages into categories  for easy navigation
6. Welcome and greatly appreciate input from visitors and subscribers

Saves Tons of Time –
A person can spend endless hours watching boring videos and reading bland articles looking for online treasures. Then once something great is found, like after watching a dozen Youtube videos, you go back later and cant find them again. Even if saved in your favorites, they get lost and are never organized. This is especially true when subscribing to Youtube channels where the person looks and sounds the same in all of them. Then you have to watch entire videos again (often 30 minutes or more) only to find that what you are looking for isn’t in that one either.
Organizing things and taking notes in the form of check lists, quick facts and an overview of the contents of videos, makes finding learning all those great ideas fast, easy and repetitive.
I also like to add pictures from a video that explain everything in a glance. Many video makers don’t seem to edit things out so you often end up watching them do nothing, like actually waiting for water to boil in real time. So many times a single picture or good sentence could explain an idea instantly. Many video makers also seem to give a very long, step by step instructions for simple things… like sharpening a pile of sticks.

Improvise: The process of devising a solution to a requirement by making-do, despite absence of resources that might be expected to produce a solution or adapting a device for some use other than that which it was designed for, or building a device from unusual components

Ingenuity: The quality of being clever, original, and inventive, often in the process of applying ideas to solve problems or meet challenges.

Survival: (My own edited and improved version of “survival skills” from Wikipedia) Knowledge and techniques to provide basic necessities for human life that may be used in a dangerous situation (e.g. natural disasters) to save themselves and others. These techniques are meant to provide basic necessities for human life: water, food, body temp regulation (thermoregulation), shelter, habitat, clear thinking, signaling for help, navigate safely, treat injuries and sickness, and get the best possible results from interactions with plants, animals and people. Survival skills are often basic knowledge, ideas and abilities that ancients invented and used themselves for ten or even hundreds of thousands of years. Outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, fishing, and hunting all require basic wilderness survival skills, especially in handling emergency situations. Bushcraft and primitive living are most often self-implemented, but require many of the same skills. (original Wikipedia version – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survival_skills )
