My Auto Murals

Most everything on these pages were painted at least 10 years ago. The first few posters below are from over 20 years ago and the only surviving copies were little ones I kept in my wallet. One thing that has always been very difficult to do is let a lot of this artwork walk away. Taking a picture is only like looking at a little toy Hot Wheels car in your hand vs riding around in a muscle car. These little pictures have no way to show what things look like in real life when they were finished FULL SIZE, in real color, layers and depth, and all the tiny attention to details and hidden secrets. Also some paints and effects do not show up in photos, like pearl/metallic glitter, fluorescent paints, glow in the dark, and gold foil does not translate at all. Also there are layers that come through that add amazing depth that only show up as a flat color in a picture.

Another best and worst part of taking pictures of finished artwork is adding a clear coat to finish to protect the artwork really makes it come to life, but because it’s like thick perfect shiny coat of glass on top, it only makes it hard to take any good pictures without glare.. it’s always something isn’t it?). Most of these pictures were taken BEFORE DIGITAL CAMERAS, so besides being a tiny picture, these are pictures scanned from old pictures, or pictures actually taken of old pictures laying on a table with a digital camera. You can only imagine what it’s like to put art on the entire back of a large bike trailer with a mural, larger than life, and its reduced to a little fuzzy picture. Such was life as an artist before the digital age I suppose :)
